I have been working diligently this past year on my physical strength and endurance. A year ago I was doing aqua therapy with a physical therapist. Last week, I walked over a mile in a local park. I'm beyond happy to be able to hike again!

Today is the first day of astronomical autumn, and where I live in Ohio we are definitely in ecological autumn as well. The sweetgum trees are dropping their leaves, and maples, like this sugar maple, are getting ready to. And birds are at peak migration.

I spent a lovely afternoon at Blacklick Woods Metro Park! I was able to hike 0.8 miles today. Much needed time spent in nature.

Yesterday I did the final hem stitch on this #handwoven cloth and took it off the rigid heddle loom. The fancy row of Spanish lace doesn't look like the photo in the book, but I still like it. The cloth looks lovely, and I think it will make a nice purse.

September 1st has never felt like fall to me. Turns out, according to the ecological calendar, the sarotinal season is roughly mid-August to mid-September. The weather tends to be dryer, leaves start turning colors, and birds prepare for migration.

This morning I got the second of my two shingles vaccine shots. Based on my experience with the first shot, I anticipate feeling quite ill for the next couple of days. 🥺

One of my favorite things in spring is finally being able to enjoy my morning tea or coffee on the front porch and listening to the bird songs. This morning I got up early enough to see the setting moon.

I just completed this pinwheel lap blanket in Deborah Shaw's owl eye stitch, and I'm very happy with the result! I used Scarfie yarn and 34 pegs of the Loops and Threads 36 peg loom; it ended up about 34"/ 86cm across.
