So much of the criticism of this film just indicates to me that people didn’t want to wait for the point of the story to be revealed; they wanted it all spelled out from the first scene through to the end. Kind of a canary in the coal mine, in retrospect.

Episode 5: Walt’s rich friends offer him a great job with great benefits, basically the thing that will solve all of his problems, and he refuses it solely out of pride. Berates his wife for even asking. How does anyone find him sympathetic after this?
