Not everyone has that luxury. Many people don’t have enough sick days or sick time and given how difficult employment situations are right now, if you don’t show up, somewhere not too far down the line,
you’ll get laid off. Should they mask? Sure, of course, but that battle was lost 3ish years ago

It’s not for everyone. This kind of game for the longest time wasn’t for me either. Always wanted to play, didn’t have the patience or will (or maybe patience and will) to do it.

But after doing Elden ring and finally getting to bloodborne last year, it felt like I could at least make an attempt

And the thing that from does better than any other studio is imparting a sense of accomplishment when you overcome a hurdle they’ve put in your way. Unblocking your progress through trying, failing, trying again and failing again until you break through is so satisfying and rewarding

And that speaks to the idea of patterns. Rhythms are essentially repeating patterns. Where and how they repeat can be varied depending on circumstances but the pattern once started stays the same. I learned so much about matching rhythms and finding patterns in my play through. Made me feel smart

The combat in sekiro is something I am now constantly thinking about. I’m still seeing attack patterns in my head. Learning the parry system is so rewarding. Sekiro is often compared to rhythm games and i completely understand that now. You learn the rhythms of the game, boards & enemies as you play

I did follow a guide when needed - the fighting cowboy guide - some places it was needed more than not and that’s because I’m generally terrible at From games. I get lost easily and lose track fo stuff often. I tried to clear areas solo as much as i could as well as attempt bosses solo first

A lot of sekiro for me was just figuring things out. Took me 63 hours to complete, got all prayer necklaces, all gourd seeds, one lazurite weapon, all mini bosses headless and major bosses done. Did the return ending for the first play through

I considered every area before finding an idol a board. I found it really satisfying and enjoyable to learn enemy placements, routes, approaches and the move sets of the enemies on the board.

Loved how there wasn’t singular approaches to each area/board, they could all be done by playstyle

Learning a board in this game was so fun.

And the use of board is deliberate, it did very much feel like a game board that needed to be approached strategically. Felt very classical in a video game sense

More thoughts on sekiro because I want to keep talking about it and because I can’t stop thinking about it

The poison area in this game wasn’t bad. Miyazaki poison swamp is a given but this was way more forgiving and avoidable for the most part.

wish this was carried forward in other from games

Initial feelings coming off last night’s super super high of beating Sekiro:

Easily one of my favourite games of all time. Consumed by how much I LOVED this experience

This is a game that I will be on my hard drive forever and I cannot delete. I can see myself going back again and again

Holy shit I beat Sekiro.

I’m absolutely buzzing right now.

I can’t wait to put my thoughts together on this game and experience

Gen X and early millennials (80-84) are the most worrisome and locked in shifts to the right, especially Gen X

But you will still buy Meta products, a company that has been a leader in disinformation, who’s leader has done generational work eroding democracy and decency in the US. Not getting paid by them but spending money on their products and enrich them is a curious line to draw

This isn’t new to polish people especially coming from Germany. This is essentially how Germany has viewed Poland and the polish people for a long, long time

How old was she when you started living together? That’s the only question that needs answering, everything else is a deliberate smoke screen, Keith

You need as much political groundswell to build to not just be anti trump but anti maga, anti America first, anti GOP so that JD Vance and anyone else they try to make president is a lame duck and permanently hobbled until 2028
