Does anyone know why IL governor JB Pritzer isn’t running in 2028?

I called Ossoff about this yday, but I may call again today tbh. He's worried about reelection but he has to know that if he screws this up he's gonna lose us.

(If your senator is one of the few listed here, please call!)
Readers in Arizona, Michigan, & Georgia!

Your senators have been getting a LOT of dedicated pressure to end the shutdown, without fixing healthcare.

If you have a minute, go ahead & give them a call!

Their job is to respond to constituents & they're mostly hearing from GOP voters rn.

It’s the economy, stupid.
Zohran Mamdani ran on freezing the rent in NYC.

Abigail Spanberger ran on supporting fired federal workers and lowering the cost of living in VA.

Mikie Sherrill ran on lowering utility bills in NJ.

Ensuring people can afford to live a decent life is the path forward.

The fact that fateh didn’t win the Minneapolis Mayoral race might indicate that even the bluest cities in the Midwest still aren’t going to vote democratic socialist. Sigh.

The only disheartening result of this cycle.

“Let them eat half a cake”
Trump said he’d be “the jobs president.” Turns out he meant job cuts. Nearly a million Americans out of work, and he’s bragging about marble bathrooms and his gilded ballroom.

CNN and MSNBC are projecting Mamdani. I’m not even in NYC and am excited

It’s a federal crime for anyone, including government officials, to intimidate or threaten someone in order to interfere with their right to vote.

Know your rights when you head to the polls.

The freedom to vote is the very foundation of our democracy. Voting is how we secure our civil rights and liberties and help shape our country, state, and town. Every eligible citizen has the right to cast a ballot freely, fairly, and accessibly - without fear of deception or intimidation.

I’m so proud of the cities I’ve lived in. Both Chicago and Portland are being true to their character
Chicagoans continue to run out of their homes to confront ICE, guard schools and churches, buy out street vendors so they can stay home, and grocery-shop for vulnerable families.

The people are what makes us a sanctuary city. Whenever I start to despair, I try to remember that

So I just donated to Second Harvest. If you’re in MN, I recommend them.

This
Most writers never stop facing rejection: from agents, from markets/publishers, from readers, from awards, from residencies, from festivals, and so on. It's hard.

That's why it's so important to find joy in the actual act of creation; it's the only part of the process you have any control over.

first book banners told us it was just about what was in schools
then they came for books in the public libraries
then they started getting book stores for carrying certain stock
now I'm hearing about little free libraries being shut down

also a reminder that Utah still has a book destruction law.
