I'm a social psychologist, swarm intelligence pioneer, guitar player, retired. Mostly spend my time on music these days, a few gigs, some recording. Live in Maryland, grew up in Arizona.
Is this really the biggest story of the day???

Saw this on Facebook. A local drummer's bass-drum pedal chain broke. Keychain saves the day! (Thanks to John Trupp for the photo.)

The gig must go on.

Not even linking this. This same wording can apply every day Trump is in office.

Here's the subject line from this morning's NYT teaser. About that "shooting:"

"... This morning, Israeli soldiers opened fire near crowds of Palestinians walking toward a food distribution site, Israel said. At least 27 people were killed and dozens were wounded..."

I asked the Gemini text-to-image generator for a photo that included two women kissing, and it wouldn't do it. I asked why, and this is part of the AI's explanation (note that in other cases Gemini has rendered images of same-sex couples kissing):

Google Gemini image generator has profound content moderation problems. Lots of examples, here's a good one. They can’t show an image of a normal woman thinking about sex.

They should decide what they want to prevent - prob. sexual contact and aroused genitals - and leave everybody else alone.

This is what Trump is disrupting the whole world about:

It's kinda weird to post a question and not allow replies of quote reposts. The answer to this question is that if you do favors for rich people they will donate to your campaign. That's all. Power begets power.

They're taking the wrestling thing a little too far.

They keep describing Jeffrey Goldberg as “a reporter.” Like he’s some rumpled guy with his press card tucked into in his fedora.

No. He is the Editor in Chief of The Atlantic and the moderator of Washington Week With The Atlantic. He’s actually a big deal.

The hard thing is that these people do not recognize the existence of facts, or objective reality. A statement is evaluated by whether it supports us. And if it doesn’t, then it is defined as opposing us. That's all that matters.

Fascinating topic. but such offensive writing. Screenshot of three different uses of the “a process known as X” wording in one article. Just fucking say it: “diffraction.” Explain it, but don’t treat it like a foreign language. We’ve been to school.

The APA site thinks I'm a bot (probably because I quit with a nasty note after the torture scandal) but Purdue's web site says this ( owl.purdue.edu/owl/research... )

Looks like this guy's beliefs about politics are about as sophisticated as his taste in chicks.

Not surprisingly, all 3 Drudge top stories link to the Associated Press - the one news source that is *not* allowed to attend WH press events, and the only one that refuses to adopt propagandistic Republican wording in their stories.

Wow the John Birch Society. I remember them but I never heard this rumor before. I suppose we should Impeach Earl Warren too.
