Interestingly, this poor reading skill taught is different from poor reading comprehension, which imo is even worse.

The inability to correctly process written information is damning and that’s what really shows on social media etc. That and unwillingness to engage with the other.

This is also why I don’t consider audio books reading. I think it’s important to point out that it has nothing to do with laziness, but while audio books can count for “books read challenges” since the information retained is largely the same, (but not quite!) it’s listening, not reading.
