I made this work in 2012. I filled a humming top with plastic objects found in the stomach of one albatross chick on Kure Atoll (Northwestern Hawaiian islands). 340 g. Cigarette lighters, plastic fragments, toys and mainly bottle caps.

In my series "Crevasse" I usually remove glaciers from postcards to show the void that their melting causes in the topography and our collective memory. Since the collapse of the Birch #Glacier which buried the village of #Blatten everything changed: I now also remove the villages from the cards.

It was such an honour to collaborate with @ksvenenvig.bsky.social and Steve Hicks and the other scientists involved that it took to write this paper which I used as a starting point for my latest conceptual Christmas Card 🎄. Thank you RIFS Potsdam, Studio von Fuchs & Lommatzsch for making it happen!
