Writer, gamer, crafter, avid cook, and former nurse practitioner. If you know a Suzi Yee, it's probably me. There aren't many of us. Gabba gabba.
One step closer to getting our new allotment ready for winter! Weedwacker/mower coming today, Dutch clover seeds (which has white flower instead of the purple we had in Ohio) coming in tomorrow. Rain not coming until Saturday!
Growing things is next level touching grass. I highly recommend it.

Mooncakes! Egg wash up front and multiple times is the way to go (on left). Lye water + golden syrup is so much easier to work with than honey dough. The press molds are so much fun--like Playdoh but you're supposed to eat it. Waiting 2 days to eat then is the hardest part. #cooking 🍽️

It's Dragon Boat Festival--time to make zongzi (or doong as it was called in my Toisan home growing up). These contain seasoned pork belly, Chinese sausage, peanuts, chestnut, mung bean lentils, and shiitake mushroom. Thank goodness for pressure cookers. #cooking

Happy Easter, everyone. Did you know Bonne Maman's glass creme brulee cups are the perfect size for individual pineapple upside down cakes? Also true for fruit cobbler and jellies

I don't bake cakes often, but this one turned out perfect and was dead simple to make. @claudiopozas.bsky.social --what do you think? Would Paula have a slice?🍽️ #food

For all the people who, for whatever reason, cannot go home for the holidays. Yuan soup is a rich savory broth with lots of meat and veg and chewy glutinous rice dumplings. My Toisan grandmother made it every winter when I was a kid and it's about as close to a hug in a bowl as you can get. #food 🍽️

Went savory for this weekend's bake. Tomorrow's Lazy Sunday is going to start with bagels and schmear.🍽️
What are y'all cooking to make the kitchen warm and smell nice?

Lowkey Thanksgiving as US election sunk in, but after a week of good international news, I have found more to be thankful for and baked accordingly. For all the Southerns who escaped the south but miss the food, I give you pecan pie. Hot takes? It's better with less sugar filling 1/

This week's edition of Lazy Sunday morning breakfast: Ube cinnamon rolls. Made a batch yesterday, ate some warm for tea and dessert and finished them off this morning. Check comments for reflection on baking with ube for the first time.🍽️

What do you do if you get your hands on Spam at your toko? Kimchi fried rice. Tastes great vegetarian, but with Spam? Heaven! 🍽️

Came with my free Black Friday tote from my fav toko--first scroll wall calendar since we landed in the Netherlands. Go Tijn's! <3

I'm not saying pie cures existential dread, but it doesn't hurt. Cheese, onion and potato pie, recipe in the comments.🍽️

My #sourdough! Started the starter in 2020 and it's still going. I love when stars align and I get a nice tall loaf with good structure that hulks out of the cut. That'll do, pig. That'll do.

When the Netherlands gives you wintry weather and a ridiculously expensive can of Libby's right before Thanksgiving, you make pumpkin conchas with the left over pumpkin that isn't going into the pie. 20 min to cool and counting...
