Phone banked today for 2 hours and talked to a handful of folks who rarely vote in municipal elections. A couple were already planning to vote, one thought the prelim was the only election this year, and several more asked where they could find info on candidates. Talk to your neighbors!

Marcelo has endured too many days of hardship, and I am relieved he was ordered released from detention today. But this fight is not over. Too many of our innocent neighbors are being unjustly detained here in Massachusetts and across the country.

Saddened to hear that Ngũgĩ' wa Thiong'o has passed away. I remember coming across The River Between in a literature class in Morocco three decades ago, and feeling an immediate sense of kinship and recognition. His work gave me permission to dream, to speak, to write. RIP to one of the greats.
