Smith: “I’m not a separatist, but here’s me going to bat for the separatists!”

If the courts don’t determine what’s constitutional, who does? My drunk uncle?

Not politicians, that’s for sure. They have insufficient knowledge to decide these things.

I tallied the number of court cases or legal challenges Alberta’s government has recently stepped in to block or pre-empt. Was surprised how long the exercise took - they’re at like a one-per-week clip:

On the ruling calling the UCP's Bill 14 strategy "the antithesis of the stable, predictable, and ordered society that the rule of law contemplates, and democracy demands."

Smith flatly said she knows democracy better than judges.

A caller argued that Smith could legally reintroduce handguns for Albertans if they just made everyone deputies

Smith's response?

Hey! That COULD cut down on response times!

This is an email that is reportedly a complaint letter to Elections Alberta that seems to make some very serious allegations...

Given the degree to which the UCP have alleged ill intent in the recall process, this needs to be addressed quickly.

Where to begin? She clearly wants elected judges with party affiliation that make rules based on ideology rather than law like the Americans and we all can see what a mess that is. And where did she pull this number that 70% of Albertans are against trans rights.
