It rains and rains in SoCal, so T decides to pump water from NorCal to the south because … everyone likes to dump unneeded water into the LA ocean while killing fish in Northern California?

Values of the GOP & Administration

Since the Administration wants people to go hungry, as demonstrated by T who has just challenged yesterday’s court order to immediately pay SNAP recipients:

It’s awesome when the community steps in with help. Thank you Tony & Albas Pizza.

“So the People’s House is basically being sold to the highest bidder. It is corruption at its core,” said former White House Press Secretary Kari.

AI is programmed to give people what they want. Not everyone wants truth or positive vibes.

AI is a tool, built by humans. It’s worth studying how AI goes awry in order to better understand the range of human behavior.

Finally, and this truly weird, AI is bad at math. A supreme glitch.

Why treating scenic lands as amusement parks for the ultra fit & wealthy needs rethinking. Caretaking & reverence, leaving the land in a better state after visiting, should be a key purpose of each journey.

It was modified in 2015, signed into law by President Obama, when the 2001 law was rewritten - so schools are required to notify parents & allow them to opt out on behalf of their children

This requirement was signed into law by President Bush as part of the “No Child Left Behind” legislation

The official health and human development website this morning - see below.

Good luck finding the “radical left.”

No wonder the U.S. is now considered by many to be an illiberal democracy.

Reader comment on NY Times article “‘I’m From Here!’: U.S. Citizens Are Ending Up in Trump’s Dragnet”
September 29, 2025 at 3:30 PM
If it was that simple, we’d be done. But more consideration should be given to folks who are far from rich & worry about gentrification. There’s no reason why good legislation that works for more people can’t be crafted: More housing, more affordable housing, & preserve existing livelihoods.

In any other universe we’d return to Mars with a new Rover but, waffling

NASA’s “Duffy noted the space agency's mission was going to be 'a little more focused' but felt comfortable asking the White House for more funding if it was needed to confirm the findings on Mars.”

Today’s entertainment.

The NY Times analyzes Trump’s signature because:

“After the release of a lewd birthday message apparently signed and sent by Donald J. Trump to Jeffrey Epstein in 2003, the White House called the document a fake.”

[The videographer] “repeatedly asks the day laborer for his name. The man manages to say ‘Jorge’ … Full names and birth dates are also required to search for people in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s inmate locator system.”

Looks like the grand parade is starting with smoke and drizzle. Not the desired triumphal show, lol, being reminded that #climate #change is real.

No Kings multi-city rally.

The flags make it hard for rumored MAGA “infiltrators.” Plus they remind us that America includes everyone.

No King’s rally 7.7 miles long from Sunnyvale to Palo Alto along El Camino.

Wildfire knows no borders. #Climate #change is real. A better version of our (U.S.) government would send firefighters & emergency crews to help. But we can donate funds here, www.redcross.ca/2025manitoba...

A small town, Paonia, on the Western Slope of the Rockies, with a big heart. Though this is in Delta County, in a red, red district, everyone (mostly) gets along. We’re traveling tomorrow, otherwise we’d be at the town’s May Day gathering.

Another view of Tamp’s protest. Compared to other cities this seems small, but consider that only 2 weeks ago Tampa residents would have had to drive to St. Petersburg, FL for the nearest event.
