Congress must act now!

This is mission-critical. Students learn, persist, graduate, and succeed only when their basic needs are met. When food and child-care supports falter, the consequences are immediate: attendance drops, attempted and earned credits fall, gateway-course completion slips, and time-to-degree lengthens.

It was so invigorating and inspiring to attend the WNY governance summit in Rochester today. Lots of possibilities for UFS/FCCC to partner with and support governance bodies and @aaup.org advocacy chapters at private colleges and universities in WNY and across New York State! NY-AAUP, too!

We were small but mighty today! Didn’t come close to filling the great space Onondaga CC set aside for us, but made up for it with the quality of conversations. Learning for Binghamton hosting a Southern Tier stop on Nov. 14 and Stony Brook hosting a Long Island stop on Dec. 1.

Candice Vacin, president of the SUNY Faculty Council of Community Colleges, and I led a tabletop exercise on common shared governance scenarios and participated in a panel discussion for the Academic Affairs division at Rockland Community College today to help kick off their academic year.

Won't be my last name tag with the new titles, but no other will be the first. Here it is in its natural habitat!
