On old game console, to deal with large scene, the game do it by shifting the viewport and updating only the tile map on viewport edge. With this trick, they can easily scroll in a big scene with limited memory and CPU power. 🧵

Fun fact. The mechanic of this infinite wedding dine room is inspired by retro game. The world scrolling can technically be done with GameObject and object pooling, but I think instanced rendering will be better for the performance. 🧵

After finished my #Atari2600 homebrew game, I consider buying an Atari2600+. The original model is great (and It's made in Hong Kong), but setting up with RF Switch box and CRT sounds painful and costy.

Fun issue. My game is about fighting on a speeding train. If I leave my game running for >1 hour, the floating point limit will cause problems. But my game only expect 4 minutes game time per stage, so not sure if i should fix this.
