Like @mattleys.bsky.social's father, I have previously lost one eye and was terrified this would go wrong and that I'd be blind. All went well, and I'm sure your son's procedure will, but for relatives the wait is frightening, however irrational the fear. Best wishes.

I had cataract surgery recently, and had a sharpie mark over one eyebrow to indicate the correct eye. It's indelible and took ages to go! Plus, during the procedure the eye is irrigated with iodine, & I was horrified afterwards to see half my face had turned yellow.
