As a teenager, I wall papered my bedroom with paper maps out of my mom’s National Geographic Magazine. I love geography.

Then I think you would love Babel. The author is Chinese as is the main character. It is sort of an allegory for colonialism. But it deals with magic, so very cool. I’m reading the Poppy Wars books now by the same author. Those are fantasies set in China.

That’s a hard question, because I read a very wide variety of genres. I would say the best book I read this year was Babel by R.F. Kuang. It’s a magical, alternative history set is dark academia Oxford. Super fun read.
