Ironic that when I tried to read the article, it was completely obscured by pop-up windows and ads 😂

Yes, that should do it. I use Wordpress to generate mine.

True. But if your twitter handle is your real name, hanging onto it makes it harder for fake accounts to fool people, and makes scammers or bad faith actors easier to spot and report. Call it reputational management if you like. Not that it happens very often but I’ve seen it go on.

I'm keeping mine to prevent impostors using my name and I've locked my account, but I've deleted the app from my devices. If Musk goes maybe things might change but I'm not holding out much hope...

They won't let you downgrade? Seriously? Oh dear 🤔
We have a dedicated server so our setup wouldn't work for you, though feel free to pick my brain about hosting generally.

Yep. I remember once I had to do an emergency fix when I discovered a plug-in embedded on numerous pages of my blog was redirecting to another site. It turned out the domain that the plug-in was hosted on had lapsed and had been bought by another company. Not fun, and it taught me a lesson!

I opted for 100% self-hosting on my blogs and websites. Wordpress is fairly easy to manage. It's easier if you know how to write code (which I do) but even if you don't, IMO it's a better bet than hosting content on a site you have no control over if things go badly wrong.

I'm not familiar with Substack but based on personal experience, I wouldn't recommend using a third-party platform to host content. Same goes for plug-ins. I've had content hosted on third-party sites in the past disappear or become paywalled without warning, and plug-ins hacked and redirected.
