So true! We actually don't let his big green ball go outside, because it gets lost in the yard, and for a while that's how he preferred to eat his entire dinner. Of course, he got smart and chewed the ball instead.
Tennis balls are cheaper to buy in bulk!
Chinook works smarter - forgoes chasing treat ball for dropped treats, instead opens hole wider and drops treats directly into mouth. He'll also chew big pieces through the ball so they come out more easily. I'm not smart enough for this dog, but he loves me anyway.

He knows, trust me. He knows! He also knows what everybody had for lunch, and every spot he's ever seen a squirrel. And he never met a hole that's big enough. This is him at work:
7 yo black and tan shepherd-ish rescue pursuing his passion for excavation. His head and shoulders are in his hole, and when it's done ( ie. before we fill it for the winter) it will be large enough for him to lay in, with only the tips of his ears and his tail visible above ground level.

Chinook, day 2 at our house, at ~7 months old. He grew into those ears remarkably quickly!
~7 month old black and tan GSD-like rescue dog at roughly half his adult-size with oversized ears and paws, looking ecstatically at a person off camera aka His Boy, who he loves more than toys, more than me, and maybe even more than he loves beef (untested, but certainly possible).

She was also not dumb enough to stick her nose in a skunk's butt, unlike this optimistic guy who's done it three times now.
