Kyle Kingsbury is not a journalist. He is not an op-ed writer.

He is a computer safety researcher.

And he has written one of the most compelling, comprehensive accounts of the ongoing hell in Chicago that you could possibly imagine.

In under 1600 words.

Great look at Zohran’s ground game. Worth a read.
Zohran didn't win by relying on standard turnout patterns. We had to fundamentally transform the Democratic electorate.

I was part of a group of NYC-DSA members that applied lessons from our previous campaigns to design the “universe” of voters to talk to. Here's how we won 🧵

This is a brilliant thread of contextualization of this moment and what's praiseworthy about it amidst the atrocities.
I know we don't feel like there's much to celebrate this July 4th. It's been a rough several years.

So I want to talk about how we're making history right now.

My go-to on this day for too many years now.
Reflecting on Frederick Douglass’ ‘The Meaning of July Fourth for the Negro.’ One paragraph in particular (see below) continues to hit home that begins: ‘Fellow citizens, I will not enlarge further on your national inconsistencies.’

If any of these are your reps, please take 5 min today and call. Scripts and numbers at 5calls.org. Kill this absolute travesty of a bill.
These are the weak points. You know what to do. First thing tomorrow, use 5calls.org and raise hell.

It's a remarkable passage, worth quoting in full.

(This is from the critical edition, which retains Anne's paragraphing and punctuation. The published version fixed her punctuation but also moved the paragraph break—and I don't think it needed moving.)

When people support Andrew Cuomo, what they’re saying implicitly is that they don’t care about the women he’s already sexually harassed and retaliated against and they won’t care if he does it again. It’s a political stance that enables discrimination against women in government

And, to be clear, it's almost certainly happening *because* the base has been screaming for action from elected Democrats.

This isn't "relax, they've got this." This is "keep yelling, it's working."
Btw, that means in the last 24 hours we've had:

-Cory Booker going for a record in holding the floor
-Ruben Gallego putting a hold on VA nominees over cuts to veterans care
-Adam Schiff putting a hold on Ed Martin's nomination for DC US attorney over... a lot

That's a genuinely good start.

Cory Booker is getting emotional talking about the sacrifices Americans have made for their country, including his colleague Tammy Duckworth. And he's still going strong!
