@aspbofficial.bsky.social Plant scientists are cool and know how to dance! The whole reason the world has not run out of food is for these plant scientists, especially the ones who do basic science!
Support your scientists as we care about food security and our precious planet that feeds us!

I am so proud of my Post Doc mentor and amazing fellow scientist @kcox-bioguy.bsky.social. Thank you @hhmi.org for such recognition!
Thanks to @hhmi.org for the shout-out! Also, kind of crazy it has already been 6 years since I took that photo 😅😅
🌿 How do plants defend themselves against microbial invaders?

HHMI Hanna Gray Fellow @kcox-bioguy.bsky.social is working to uncover the cellular-level interactions that shape plant immunity.

Charles Copeland (@hotvegetables.bsky.social) studied root architecture changes in Arabidopsis in response to Pseudomonas strains.

Different accessions vary in transcriptional response and root changes, mapped to a plant QTL and identified bacterial components.

Incredibly inspiring talk about the discovery of the more than 200 immune systems in bacteria by Rotem Sorek.

From computational discovery in 2018 through functional and structural analyses, even linking bacterial immune systems to that of eukaryotes.
