If I'm not completely wrong about how thermal emission works, hot plasma should always be emitting vislight photons, it's just the energy is dwarfed by the non-visible photons. The area under the curve grows as temp increases.

I'm not convinced of this.

The plasma is still a blackbody. Even if it's transparent if it's over 700K it will emit visible light, and even if the spectral peak is below 400nm the right side of the curve still crosses the visible range.

I bought some $15 noname one and used it until it died. Now I'm on the Logitech MX Vertical.
