Took me 3h40 to get back to Belalp with 40kg (rope, chainsaw, wood)... 😫
First noticed by Diller in 1896, probably already submerged earlier and dead well before (14C dated to 450 BP)!
The 'Old Man of the Lake', a 9-m long Tsuga has been swimming in Crater Lake (Oregon) for over a century! 💪

The scale is difficult to grasp here, but the glacier has lost approx. 1.8 km in length over this period! 📈
