I've been wondering why there's so much bad writing in everyday media and I think I am getting my answer.

Ideally every part of a story should depend on and/or refer to what came before and that's a lot easier to pull off if you know your constraints in advance.

You should help him with those antlers now that mating season is over.

Instant Ramen is rather counter-intuitive because it looks like regular pasta, but is absolute not.

I learned this because I had a few backup cup noodles of various types at work and when needed they were all rancid.

If you have old peanuts or cashews you'll recognize the smell as "rancid".

Yeah, I'd go as far to say the oil process makes them go bad faster than comparable shelf stable foods like granola bars or canned soup.

Ramen Noodles are flash fried in oil and the oil can go rancid. The embedded palm oil is why the noodles have so many calories.

What's with all the cranes around the Livingston Ave Bridge?

At least stop using "For You".

Anything that can be filled in after the fact has no global implications on the story and I am going to say that's bad.

I just helped with a legal eviction and the process takes 2-3 months.

I'm literally responding to the part of the OP in the [square brackets].

That's the exact point where lazy writing shows up and ruins the immersion. That [] moment informs so much about the characters and by extension the plot itself.

This is how plot holes and deus ex machina happen. Good stories are path dependent, if a scene can be plugged in later, it might not actually be important. Additionally, the sunk costs of writing ahead will make the author unlikely to undo something they've put to paper.

Then Furry cons went and actually achieved the goal in a much better way.

I preferred this one.

I have a consistent fake birthday for this reason and a couple alternate addresses.

Imagine for one moment that Trump was your head of government and had the same power of arrest for online comments he felt harassed by. Is this really the sort of power you'd want to hand your government?
November 12, 2025 at 1:54 AM
As yes, vague terms like harassment that the state is able to selectively enforce as it chooses.

Why don't you declare some enemies of the people while you're at it.
November 12, 2025 at 1:46 AM
Arrests are bad! I know your competitors are fudging their numbers, but you shouldn't be anywhere close to this list.

Involving state power to win arguments online isn't the win you think it is.

Congrats, you're an example of dystopian overreach just as so many writers predicted.

Look into a topic before replying. It's exactly the sort of thoughtcrime crap one would assume was a hyperbolic "what if".
