gamergate is in the dna of everything from trump to joe rogan to asmongold to whoever the fuck. video games are in fact at the root of this and what happens in this space matters a hell of a lot.

Believe me when I say this is a compliment... the narrative choices and their affects on the outcome have the same depth as the most choice-driven Nancy Drew game (either Ghost of Thornton Hall or Danger by Design, you decide). The actual story told has much greater depth from a writing perspective.

I think a clear example to compare this game to... Pentiment is an RPG, System Shock is an Immersive Sim. Bethesda-style first person RPGs are the unholy matrimony of both of those things (in particular Fallout: NV) and that is a difficult line to tread with that being the modern norm for the genre.

I am very VERY curious how much of a blank slate TCR were given when they were handed the project suddenly from Hardsuit. There is some sort of curse surrounding this particular franchise I swear.

It is clear that the game is geared towards people already familiar with the lore, but then goes out of its way to make clan uniquities less important to the overall game
There is a lot of lore you can find out in the world, but it's not diegetic.

The writing is great, but it's a mostly linear game.
The combat is fun, but not fun enough (or balanced enough frankly) to be as central as it is.
The open world is bigger, but frankly empty.
There are a lot more NPCs, but a lot less variety.
