If you live in NC, call every Republican politician you know. Call every farmer you know and ask them to do the same

When money walks , voters talk. Make sure they know this effects everyone in their town and state

I have been trying to not post political things here… Just because I need a quiet space for my sanity. But today is a day to call out collaborators and capitulation.

Nothing like the acerbic wit of the UK columnist that accompanies the acute ability to excoriorate anything with the whif of crude ignorance, the classist or patrician. (or in this case all 3)

New work approaching completion. 7+ years of fabric remnants dyed in indigo with resist patterns.
Now picture it round.

Starting a new large-scale piece that is made entirely from years worth of personal textile waste!

Using natural dye, I introduce indigo to the fibers and leave them otherwise unchanged when I sew them together.

⏰ Opening Reception: March 16th

Studies in blue--from my henna vat and fructose vat... Teal is from myrobalan mordant. These dye well eventhough they are 60% cotton, 40% unknown recycled fiber.

I have to get in the habit of looking at this more often. I'm not assailed by reels I don't want to see, or advertising gleaned from search results, conversations and terrifyingly, my medical history. Just artists I want to hear from.

Textile artists--
What methods do you use to mount and frame your work?
Glue, according to an installer friend is always a disaster...
I settled on a fabric hinge that will be tacked to panel.

What have you used?

Off to the framers! So many considerations when mounting and framing textile work. I came to this work from painting, so I always treated them like canvasses... This work was different.

these are fabric remnants from every project I made from 2018 on. I moved them all from Durham NC to Toronto CDA. they capture all the dislocation and sadness I feel… But if you know the subject matter of my other work, they are relevant in so many other ways. But I only have 40 characters left.

Indigo experiments from the last couple of weeks. I really thought my show at Horace Williams house in Chapel Hill NC was going to be one set of work. But this new thing started happening, and I have to follow where it leads.
