Has anyone cracked writing custom instructions for AI to make it always use British English and never Amercian English? Explicit instructions like "Use sentence case for headlines, never use capitals within the sentence", "Use S in preference to Z" don't work. The headline one never! Anyone?

Planning and Managing Public Relations Campaigns is my 5th day of Advent as it's essential reading for every PR professional. The 6th edition is just out and author Anne Gregory is joined by a new co-author Mandy Pearse. Once again I was privileged to be able to make a small contribution.

Homeward bound after a very long day but fantastic day in Lyon... although not quite home yet as running a Crisis Comms and AI workshop in London tomorrow. Bizarrely virtually as won't have time to get home in time for it.

Snow at Heathrow as I wait to board my flight to Lyon where I am giving a talk on the future of public relations and communications. What would be the one thing you would say?

One of the great things about AI today, compared to two years ago is hallucinations are rare. However, you need to be on guard as they still occur. This is a classic from Copilot which thinks my correct version of its name is wrong and tries to replace it with a hallucination!

Delays and cancellations on @lner are rare. Looks like the next one is running and I've built in two hours slack so still fine to run Copilot training for the board of a PR and comms agency.

The Windows Studio Effects on my Surface Laptop Copilot+ are good and mean I now usually use my integrated laptop camera. But I'd like the flexibility of my external camera as well and now Microsoft is adding support for external cameras. ❤️

Fantastic piece which asks the question everyone should be asking.

I have never experienced rain like this at home in Leeds. It's tropical monsoon heavy. The patio flooded in about four minutes. But won't be enough to make any difference to Yorkshire Water's hosepipe ban.

Interweb from @zeninternet and @Surface_UK laptop were slower than usual this morning. Now a lot faster, but download still not as fast as usual. Although fast enough you can't "sense" the difference.

Today's Northern Agenda highlights how ridiculous aspects of data protection laws are. It's awful destruction is even part of regulations. Most data are valuable historic records. Keep it secure, but destroy nothing. newsletters.e.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/cIHavSffRPLX...

A senior Weber Shandwick executive claims proprietary AI systems are a "core competitive differentiator." A network agency investing millions in proprietary AI would say that. In reality you can build amazing smart custom agents in Copilot etc without investing millions.

Bizarre story on Times Radio about office air conditioning being too cold. If it's too cold for some people it is easy to put on warmer clothes or extra layers. It's much harder for people who are too warm to discard clothes. If you are too cold just put some clothes on!

I've been talking a lot recently about how AI might be a renaissance of face-to-face interactions. As realistic digital twins can attend meetings or give online presentations, the value of face-to-face interaction at meetings, events and conferences will explode. Seems Mark Cuban thinks the same.

The moment you have all been waiting for, or should be if you are real public relations and communications professional who embraces measurement. I give you the AMEC Barcelona Principles 4.0 (launched in Vienna).

In an interview with Sky's Trevor Phillips, Peter Kyle, the Secretary of State for Science, Innovation and Technology, makes a powerful case about why people need to understand how AI works, which is why AI training for PR and comms professionals is essential.

I'm angry listening to Trevor Phillips and Laura Kuenssberg interview Peter Kyle. Obsessed with the creative sector, copyright and AI. It's important, but one aspect of questions they should ask about AI opportunities and risks. Peter's answers are excellent, in contrast to biased questions.
