I bought, read and finished Arborescence by Rhett Davis today - I don't even know where to begin on how I feel, other than being totally annihilated.
Some books make my brain feel content, but this hurt my heart in a way that it hasn't been in a while, and made me cry. Thanks Rhett!

Interesting, sad read. These guys sound like dudes I grew up with, who got broken along the way or lack critical thinking or empathy. Then online misogyny convinced them they'd no self-reflection to aspire to, instead to rage against a world not bowing to their limited capacity to understand it.

to clarify, I don't want to be antagonistic. But what does frustrate me is how what originally influenced and informed the design of everything from CE was wholly inspired by other forms of media, not inspired by itself.
All it takes is returning to those roots, that's the fix. Genuinely.

I really love Halo: Combat Evolved and love any excuse to replay Halo: Combat Evolved but I’m not going to lie, putting out another remake and rerelease of Halo: Combat Evolved feels like the most “we don’t know what to do with Halo anymore, hit the emergency button” decision one could make
