The DC shooting story is really getting to me because we literally trained this man as a child soldier for a death squad in a forever war and Stephen Miller et al want to blame it on other cultures? It's our culture, American culture, that killed that woman.

No one shld lose sight of the fact that the Guard was only in DC as part of an extended political messaging stunt. The shooter is guilty for the attacks/carnage. Donald Trump is responsible for them. This is the collateral damage of Trump abusing his powers as President.

This is AMAZING journalism. The New York Times went through Trump's court filings related to what is happening in Chicago. There are videos, testimonies, and photographs. You can see this for yourself.

Don’t. Comply. In advance.
NEWS --> BBC confirms to me that they did edit a line out of historian @rutgerbregman.com's speech. It called Trump "the most openly corrupt president in US history."

BBC also confirms this was done on the advice of lawyers. So Trump's threats worked.

New piece:

Trump’s Fury at BBC Gets Unnerving Results with Pro-MAGA Edit Stunner
First, British Broadcasting Corporation execs resigned after Trump complained about a segment. Now the BBC edited out a line from a historian that was critical of Trump. Where does this end?

Great thread.
Apropos of the Witkoff thing, recently it occurred to me that Bondi and Patel are chattering abt polygraphing and canning non-MAGA FBI agents and all other such stuff. Meanwhile people in the FBI keep leaking every time Kash gives his wannabe country music girlfriend some new chunk of public ...

Critique the NYT all you want. Civil critiques are healthy. But they’re perhaps the only journalism enterprise that has the resources and expertise to do shit like this. And I’d pay double my sub to help keep them doing it.

At this point, the Washpost edit page is just trolling its readers.

the problem isn't LED lights, though, it's DOT having far less strict standards for beam pattern & glare than Europe (whose regulations are followed by much of the rest of the world). The allowed height of the lamps and the allowed height of the beam is much lower in the ECE standard.

I think often about how we fought in Afghanistan for 20 years and most Americans don’t have the foggiest idea that a defining part of the challenge for those who served was a culture that enables the widespread systemic rape of young boys.

When people say, "you wouldn't want a 'purple haired gender studies major' in the Marines" I reply "YES we desperately needed them!" We had teams of anthropologists who published studies for us.

US and Ukraine didn’t make any progress, come on.

US told Ukraine to bow down to Putin in various ways, Ukraine went point by point explaining why they won’t do that, and the US president berated them more.

The whole thing remains a farce, since the US keeps pretending Russia isn’t the problem.
