i'm ready to close the book on this for now, but like hakuouki, i will always come back to it, especially now that it's super accessible...
and i will continue to beg on my hands and knees for this to get localized. it's fine. i'm fine (i need more people to meet kazuya—)

regardless, this was a great port collection and it's solidified why i have always championed this as an experience worth going through. i'm really glad i was able to fully enjoy it and comprehend it (even if i still needed some help with specific vocab and refreshing my history references)

at the end of the day, i think kazuya and senkimaru were consistently the best routes across both games for their writing, and kazuya won me over so wholly and completely through this playthrough. he is coming for chitose's throne, but i think that's a product of my own taste changing over time

as for the romance paths, my final ranking is somewhat similar to the main game:
kazuya > senkimaru > chitose = shuu > shin > yachiyo > kazutake
chitose's route was funny but it felt like they really had no idea what to do with him and the route felt the most directionless, but i love chitose!

that was where i got fatigued since that's all in the route path where yukina doesn't romance anyone and was very plot heavy in the way the original game is. i definitely want to come back and go through that part again in maybe a few months since both games back to back WAS a lot

44. toki no kizuna: hanayui tsuzuri
SO much content that honestly i was getting fatigued by the stuff that didn't fall into the romance epilogues, but that means it'll be a reason to come back when i miss everyone. great for a FD though and i just... adore these characters so much!

man really said "can yall stop giving yukina shit for not knowing how to sew? learn for yourselves if it's that much of a problem" in a scene that is tied to the common route and not even their romance. bless. love this for him

the overarching plot was kind of a hot mess, especially in the last two eps. the last 20 minutes needed to be its own episode!
but i was still very endeared by the concept, the focus on the food through most of it, and the characters themselves. i had fun, so 🤷♀️
