The despair and rage that comes with knowing that there was once a walkable and public transit-oriented America which we abandoned for the hellscape that is suburban sprawl and filled our neighborhoods with parking lots and endless highways is just sometimes too much for my poor heart

trump admin reaction to EU fine of X is illuminating. it shows a few things:

1. they are trying to distract from its own massive censorship of americans.

2. they are worried about losing a propaganda and disinformation platform to support racist anti-migrant parties in europe.

To me the whole "grindset" shit was the biggest scam ever. They convinced a generation of dolts that breaking your back working 12 hours a day for meager pay or "exposure" was the path to greatness and the rest of us old motherfuckers lived it and learned it wasn't true we just didn't post about it

Hampton wasn’t killed because he was “too inspiring.” He was killed because he was building a multiracial, working-class organization with teeth; the kind that scared the state enough to drug him, raid his home, and execute him in his sleep.

We learned a lot during the initial COVID reaction.

We learned the UBI works, that working from home is possible for most jobs, and that the country survives on the hardworking people of retail, service industry, transportation, and nursing.

Then we promptly forgot all that shit.

Back in the day, we just called these things what they actually are - assassination markets.
The recent 60 Minutes on Polymarket was just Anderson Cooper being a credulous rube the whole time. No discussion at all about how whales/coordinated influence ops could skew odds and drive narratives about electoral possibilities or the general corrosiveness of gambling on our society. BLEAK

People who own "prediction markets" should be 《redacted》.
This is the head of the company that CNN just partnered with, insisting that prediction markets are a great way to cut through the noise and determine what’s true and what isn’t.

No, really, listen to him. It’s actually that stupid.

Trump just pardoned Anti-Women Rights Congressman Henry Cuellar, and Dem Leadership is making themselves complicit by endorsing blatant corruption.

Cuellar was indicted in 2024 for taking 600k in bribes from a bank & from Azerbaijan, who ethnically cleansed over 100,000 Armenians last year.
Jeffries claims the charges against Cueller were "very thin" and says Trump's pardon was "exactly the right outcome"

Fantastic data in here. Was just talking to a neighbor about the age curve at No Kings. Not an easy thing to fix.
The Times piece by @brendannyhan.bsky.social about No Kings made me curious about the political activism of young people over time. So I pulled some CES data and made some charts. www.pbump.net/o/how-severe...
