he doesn’t even seem to understand WHY the joke wasn’t funny in the first place. he sees himself as an entertainer, the joke itself is detached to himself and thinks the bigger = the better. he rips off ALL of his pants thinking that’s the solution: shock factor. but it’s not.

let’s start with the obvious- this is one of the EARLIEST episodes of the show (s1e2b), when the idea of Sandy being SpongeBob’s love interest was still being tossed around. they of course kept them as friends, but it’s funny to think SpongeBob has a crush on her in this ep.
