"Donald Trump is about to order the government to pay him 'damages' for the FBI raid on his Mar-a-Lago mansion and for special prosecutor Jack Smith’s two investigations of him...He’s going to pay himself $230 million."
New from me: Trump and his allies have decided that they are the real victims of the criminal justice system.

And while restrictive immunity laws make it difficult for actual victims to get compensation, Trump plans to just skip the courts and start issuing taxpayer-funded "reparation" checks.
MAGA's $300 million heist
Donald Trump supports immunity for cops and prosecutors. Unless they try to hold him and his allies accountable. Then we all have to pay Donald Trump.

Is AI inherently bad? Of course not.

The question is: WHO controls it & for what purpose?

Does anyone believe that the richest people on Earth are investing hundreds of billions in AI to improve life for ordinary people, eliminate poverty & solve global warming?

I doubt it.

8+ years after "Jews will not replace us" in Charlottesville were very fine people, now suddenly there's a flurry of concern over antisemitism on the right, because it's starting to affect the right's support of Israel. www.nytimes.com/2025/11/20/o...

Federal immigration cops are using "wellness checks" on minors as a ruse to get into homes and arrest people for alleged immigration violations. In this case, an alleged check on a 17-year-old let them arrest his 22-year-old brother, who was brought here at 11 and has protected status.

Zohran Mamdani says on NY1 he didn't get a congratulatory call from either Andrew Cuomo or Eric Adams last night.

He says he got a congratulatory call from Curtis Sliwa, though.

Here's another bit of conventional wisdom Zohran completely blew away: His speech was at well above a 10th-grade level. It was complex, erudite, punctuated by deep and fluent references. You don't have to condescend to voters with baby talk! Part of re-establishing norms is speaking like an adult.

I think I'm just realizing because of all the open Islamophobia from both the right and centrist boomers during the Mamdani campaign, that most people under 45 in urban areas know Muslims and see them as real human beings and ... like, normal, where older/rural-er Americans don't know any.
November 5, 2025 at 6:01 AM
Weirdly when you spend like 40 years obliterating large segments of the Muslim world and making them unpleasant places to raise a family, a lot of those people in those places end up as neighbors, and weirdly those neighbors have kids that, like, attend the same schools as your kids. Wild, huh?
millennials and zoomers have increasingly grown up with muslims. to us, they're just our neighbors, like anyone else on the street. they're just americans.

meanwhile we have people who should've retired a decade ago talking about our neighbors like they're terrorists. i'm sick of it

People who don't believe Graham Platner could hold legitimately progressive views on gender and sexuality because he has written "GAAAAAY [pajorative]" on a message board probably 1) don't understand online shitposting and its place in culture, and 2) probably aren't friends with any gay furries. 1/
