[PART 3] All of that mormon-culture-related stuff aside though, this book is excellent! Super fun magic system of course (it is Brandon Sanderson ;D) and excellent worldbuilding showcased through fantastic storytelling. (Do read trigger warnings before giving this a try however.) 4.25/5⭐️

[PART 1] As an exmo, this was very interesting. Excellent writing of course (I mean it's Brandon Sanderson) but also...interesting. Don't get me wrong, there's no mormonism in book 1, but there are moments when I can see exactly how mormonism has influenced his view of morality and philosophy etc.

"Heartless" by Marissa Meyer is as quirky & unexpected as you'd expect from an Alice in Wonderland story, & I adore it! The book begins with our lovely Cath happily baking in a sunny kitchen, but by the very end you'll be saying along with her: "Off with his head!" Fantabulous novel, I love it! 5/5⭐

Have you seen Lockwood & Co on Netflix? The show is good enough, I enjoyed watching it. But the books are PHENOMENAL! The show did well with the Red Room but the rest felt too rushed to me. The books make it all much scarier ;) This series is sorta mild/"preteen" horror and mystery, I adore it! 5/5⭐️

Jonathan Stroud is tied with @lainitaylor.bsky.social as my top favorite author of all time. Bartimaeus is definitely my favorite character from any book ever. The Whispering Skull (from Lockwood and Co) is also one of my favorite characters ever :D Only Stroud could make me love a skull lmao 😂💜

(250 pages read!) @samanthashannon.bsky.social is not only one of the best worldbuilders I've ever encountered but also one of the best at incorporating the worldbuilding into the narrative in a way that feels natural, immersive, and easy to understand. She shows (not "tells") the worldbuilding 💜

(235 pages read) I mean the characters and plot are excellent and all, but the WORLDBUILDING. It continues to amaze me, getting more and more intricate and deep and rich with history, myth, culture, and so on with every page I read! So far at least I adore this book :D It is highly impressive! :3

The Strange the Dreamer duology by @lainitaylor.bsky.social challenged my idea of what writing could be. Taylor is the single most incredible writer I have *ever* encountered. This duology is the most beautiful and emotional story I have ever and will ever read. I left my heart in these pages. 5/5⭐️

The Wildwood Duology by @julietmarillier.bsky.social is a stunningly beautiful & engaging reimagining of the "Twelve Dancing Princesses" fairytale. There are so many twists & turns in its intricately woven plot you won't be able to put it down from start to finish, & the writing is gorgeous. 5/5⭐

(85 pages read!) I've seen people complaning about all the worldbuilding related words at the beginning and having to flip back to the glossary a lot. That's not how heavy worldbuilding projects work, you don't need to know what all of these words mean. They're there to immerse you in the world :3
