There's a bigger story at play here. Landlords using ICE to roust tenants & intentionally damage, destroy or disappear their property, damaging the bldg. (already in poor shape) so it's unliveable, and then..............insurance claims & sales to developers.

There's a lot of context that I think has been somewhat understandably missed in the initial reporting. The building was almost certainly in bad shape before the raid, and besides the Venezuelans, occupied mostly by very poor, vulnerable people. But I kind of think that makes it worse

I visited the apartment building ICE raided on Tuesday today. Story to come, but you can walk right in. Half of the apartments have no doors on them. Children's stuff abandoned in some flats. *Citizen* residents told me they were arrested and held for hours in zipties. This is America
