With The Acolyte, Leslye Headland made my favourite slice of Star Wars since The Last Jedi. As an OG fan since I was 6 in '77 The Acolyte & The Last Jedi are my absolute favourite iterations of the Galaxy far, far away. I think it's partly because of the philosophical nature of both. My happy place.

Happy Birthday Adam Driver. He became my favourite actor via Adam Sackler in Girls. Nobody else inhabits a conflicted traumatised Star Wars character like him. I saw myself in Ben Solo's BPD rage & he instantly became my favourite Star Wars guy. Vulnerability & pain first. Cool is an add-on. 🎯👌❤️

A little trauma can be illuminating. I owe everything I am today to movies, TV & the lessons held within. Because I was raised by Star Trek & Star Wars I developed an open mind when it came to matters of philosophy. That's why I couldn't get comfy in any Church. The man made elements got in the way.

When I grew up I was usually on my ZX Spectrum. I was on the other spectrum then also but didn't know it. When I saw Rain Man I felt like I was part Charlie Babitt & part Raymond. I looked for myself in films because I had zero guidance from a parental perspective. So movies became my teacher. ❤️🎥🖖

In The Last Jedi I was able to come full circle with the acknowledgement & realisation that my desire for a higher power couldn't be held exclusively by any single Religion. It was huge. The frequent quote of Han that I say to my wife is, "What would you like?" in the cadence of the scruffy looking nerfherder to Leia arriving at Bespin. So I like this statement, I stand by it & I wholeheartedly support it.

I'm rewatching Westworld. I've seen it maybe twenty times 🫳. Such a fascinating rare puzzle that is unusual in TV. So ambitious, so beautiful. It's largely about the duality between light & dark. It's about how we deal with trauma & loss. As is Star Wars. This & Girls are my top two (non SW) shows.
