Also, AI has a very big problem that none of the proponents like to talk about: recursion. This is where the models eat their own data and don't know it, and is already happening more and more as AI results flood the internet (it's why each new version of ChatGpt seems stupider in some ways)

AI writes code the same way it does art: extremely derivatively. The current tools (copilot, chatgpt etc) are really good at writing boilerplate gunk for you and saving you time. They're really bad at writing correct algorithms, especially if humans tend to get that algorithm wrong the first time.

As a software engineer, I've seen a lot of bold claims that AI is going to replace most engineers in the next few years. This is, at best, a very optimistic lie.
