Organic apple farmer and nursery owner in Sonoma County, CA. Check out http://littleappletreats.com for some good stuff! Here for ideas, mostly on climate and nature—plants and birds and rocks and things. Opinions my own.
What’s the context of your post? I certainly don’t know the answer, but would like to know what you are seeing.

Now *that’s* an Aurora.

What is the porpoise of that behavior?

My wife and I pay $421/mo (although being self-employed we always square up at the end of the year so this may turn out to be slightly higher.) Same plan, Kaiser Silver 70 HMO, in 2026: $2,814/mo. No can do.

Also, I thought the tax credits would be extended in the end. Ah well.

Trump is putting pressure on Congress by making things worse. If the Democrats cave, he wins. If the Republicans cave and end the filibuster as he wants, he wins.

I reread in after the November ‘24 election. I had no idea Orwell could time-travel.

Also they got the flamingo’s yo-yo trick wrong. Where’s the hula-hoop? Flamingos always have hula-hoops.

What? Where will the operational models get their data from now??

Are you talking about medical insurance premiums? My HMO health care plan is currently $421/mo for my wife and me. The same policy next year: $2814/mo.

I just read this review. It’s an absolutely exhilarating piece of writing—I can’t wait to read Black River Orchard now!

I couldn’t read the signs—what was there?

6.5?

6.5????!?!?!?!?!!!

That’s scurrilous slander to an apple that has managed to hoof it century after century without complaint. I expect its legal team will be filing an appeal shortly.

In a bathroom at Mar-a-Lago, where they can be shielded by manila folders of classified documents.

I asked our accountant about that first scenario and he said no way.

There used to be something about the glittering stillness of the night sky which was equal parts awe-inspiring, hopeful, peaceful and beautiful. It’s become more like a freeway interchange.

Last October’s was fantastic!

I am finding these comets to be a letdown, but the Orionids are making up for it! I was scanning for Lemmon this morning before sunrise and saw a shooting star through binoculars for the first time.

But the sheer number of satellites in every corner of the sky is kinda gross. Progress, I suppose.

I was on the 18th floor of a SF office building downtown. The desk drawers opened and closed by themselves as the building swayed. I stood in the doorway, despite it being pointless. Getting home that evening on a ferry, SF a dark silhouette against the clear sky, was quite the experience.
