I feel like a lot of queer people are hanging by a fucking thread right now. I, for example, have to distract myself or I will collapse into nothing. That’s not an option, though. I have no choice but make it through this. So if people think I’m selfish for that, fine. I’m also alive.

You don’t know how to fix this any better than anyone else. All you have in your repertoire is guilt tripping. And the only people this even impacts are people who ALREADY CARE. The people being persuaded are being changing because what’s going is OBVIOUSLY WRONG.

I know when I’m in a depressive episode the best thing for me to do is look at pictures of babies being starved to death. Focusing 16 hours a day on a horrific genocide I can’t do anything to fix really makes the world feel worth living in and motivates me to hit 👏 that 👏 grindset 👏.

you guys tried to pressure a trans woman clearly going through hell because of fascism into making a 10+ month long project on one of the worst things happening on earth right now and then got mad she couldn’t do it because she was resentful and depressed.

I doubt a journalist that gained prominence by arguing that hate mobs against women are largely unfair would have the goal of embarrassing Natalie which is why my comment was directed at hobbes and not you.

I wish she had specified in her post that she was being sent gore and getting death threats, because it would have made it clear that the problem goes beyond a few people “sucking”. A movement can’t survive when anyone within it who slightly disagrees is harassed. It’s not tenable.

But I’d argue that not dealing with it at all is worse. We don’t have to capitulate to bari weiss or hold ourselves responsible for every person to start calling out bad behavior when it happens.

The thing I don’t really understand is that almost every successful justice movement has had some sort of community standard. Yet this one seems determined to downplay some genuinely awful behavior. Constantly being on the backfoot is a counterproductive, yes.

The dynamic is complex when anyone not deemed “left enough” is threatened and traumatized by an extremely vocal portion of leftists. What is the harm in policing our own movement so that this doesn’t keep happening? It can’t possibly be more than letting it continue.

Missing context as a patron viewing her ama: people sent Natalie pictures of dead children because she said she supported Kamala. And they were threatening her because she called out jfk conspiracies. This is a massive harassment campaign she’s responding to. Her feelings are the point.

In july of 2024 people were sending her pictures of dead children for endorsing kamala. Now they’re sending her death threats. We can’t just ignore bad actors in our movement, it is going to come back to bite us.

Exactly. People were mad because she called out a leftist spreading jfk conspiracies and everyone jumped on her calling her a zionist. It doesn’t seem like MH has had the same exposure to the same bad actors contra has been dealing with for the past 8 yrs
