Weird yes, freak... no?? I guess it is a bit right, semantics aside, I think the tone down was an improvement, I think it put the story in the story and helped push for the relationship more, rather than just being weird for the sake of being weird. It felt more apparent at least.

I have to admit though, despite my love for his works, or perhaps because of it rather, I decided to pretty much to "gatekeep" the author from a lot of people, only telling few friends about it throughout. Something about it being in the mainstream air scares me. Maybe I'm bad and/or pretentious.

Riichi Ueshiba's stuff ironically though, toned down as he grew older. Discommunication, to Yume Tsukai, very odd mangas, then BOOM, I'd say he hit something on the head with MGX. The latest manga he made if you're not aware is Ookumo-chan Flashback, wrapped up in 2021.
