For non-Brits: it’s now absolutely routine for crackpot activists like Peggie to pick individual members of the public to turn into hate figures in furtherance of their own horrific politics, with the enthusiastic endorsement and participation of major media outlets and members of parliament.

EU politicians will decide on Wednesday whether to go ahead with the ban on words like burger and sausage for plant-based foods.

That means we have one last chance to show how unpopular – and absurd – this policy is.

Act now and see what you can do on savetheburger.org

You don’t need to be a socialist to know the network barons in Silicon Valley must have their wealth seized in the name of the people. They wield economic power as a cudgel against our liberal democratic rights.
A Palantir billionaire just called for public hangings.

“It's time to bring back masculine leadership to protect our most vulnerable,” writes Joe Lonsdale.

This is where Silicon Valley authoritarianism is heading:

Elon Musk is worse at hiding it but this is the problem with all billionaires: they are a threat to democratic governance. They have an insatiable need to own and control everything. If you want to be free you have to curb their power, and demand political leaders who understand that
Elon Musk is against the European Union being the European Union —he posted this after X (fka Twitter) was fined for violations of the EU’s Digital Services Act.

Nobody voted for any of this shit, you understand, just as they didn’t vote for the relentless crackdowns or PFI or more new peers. We are getting this regardless, because this stuff is what *our horrific political/media class* wants, and they treat democracy as their license to do as they please.

it's fascinating watching the US do this in real time and mostly withstanding it only because of the size of the American economy, and watching UK elites view it as a good idea to emulate
How to build a modern functional growing economy:
1) Depend on votes of pensioners from peripheral transfer dependent regions
2) Endlessly piss off people who live in your largest urban centres and attack their industries
3) Get rid of all the foreigners
4) Singapore is achieved!

This correct, and almost none of it is organically arising from the public. The relentless fear and hate of the last decade was deliberately imposed by opportunist politicians, toxic media outlets, crackpot activists and malignant squillionaires, working hand in hand towards similar goals.
There is absolutely nothing left to the UK but bigotry and spite. A hateful place, you can almost taste it in the air, makes it hard to breathe.
Seems there has been some co-ordination.

We're watching the wholesale burning of every scrap of dignity afforded to trans people in the UK, their rights, their medical services, their employment, their place within society, their bodily functions.

It is a disgrace, and a disgusting stain on the government and media of this country.

People need to understand that the neoreactionary movement is one thing with different faces it presents to the public, as demonstrated in the recent BBC shenanigans: the gender crackpots, domestic fascists and genocide enthusiasts are all on the same page with the international fascists.

Trans people are targeted because they're the most vulnerable group, but they won't be the last ones targeted. By the time the Far Right goes against all women's rights, whatever is left of the feminist movement will be too weak to fight back. Protecting trans people is our line of defense.

you gotta remember that from a conservative perspective, these programs are a failure. they don't want to reduce homelessness, they want to punish homeless people. they'd pay 10x as much for that happily
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.
