From Coles (2024). People's ideas of "politics"/"political" are all over the place and amount to practically nothing. Thread below.

I can't speak to what order things happened in before, so I will take your word for it. But just looking at some of your posts from *this morning*, they count as spam. Here are three more near-identical posts about the NYT. My guess is any spam label is retroactive and applies to all your posts.

There are six of these just within the past hour, not even counting those from the previous days/weeks. That’s why they marked you as spam.

This is one of my favorite articles, by @dkreiss.bsky.social & @shannimcg.bsky.social, on why “polarization” is the wrong framing of the problem to begin with.

It’s amazing how quickly mass media move to provide smiling photos and potential mitigating evidence of white people who commit heinous crimes.

I’m sorry @cbsnews.com but this lower third is garbage. He’s “transforming” the government the way a raging fire transforms a building into ash. Downplaying the illegality and consequences of what’s going on here is actively deceiving the American people.

All I can think about is this.

Meteorologists are just trolling at this point.

This is one of the things I cover in my Media and Crime course. For example, I show people this pic of Connor Sturgeon, who was a whole mass shooter, that got ran in several media outlets. Sure they didn’t have a mugshot, but I’m sure they could have gotten a drivers license photo, which is similar.

Yup totally normal stuff.

This is the kind of totally normal push notification that Xitter is randomly sending out to users who don’t even follow this account.

Please do not send any important and/or witty skeets containing phrases such as "I beg your pardon" or "pardon my French but @$%&!" for the next seven days.

Protect your peace. We do not need to hate-share every steaming pile of uninformed opinions that gets on the bottom of our shoes.

This is why we have a corgi and just let physics do the work of keeping certain areas off limits to him.

@qrdknpfr.bsky.social et al.: "[The far right] creates narratives of threat via various forms of constructed, malicious 'others' – forming a shared imaginary of a leftist hegemony, especially along the lines of racial, ethnic, and religious out-groups."

NYT: "Are others doing better than you?"

Teaching about humor and persuasion allows me to show off my artistic skills. For those who want to play along at home, what's depicted in the drawing: resource allocation, or message discounting? (@dannagal.bsky.social is not allowed to answer.)
