Also, one of the reasons “cameras add 10 pounds” is the lack of depth perception in a flat image pulls everything forward. When you see yourself in 3-D you’re sort of looking around your own face. It makes a difference.

I was raised in Baptist Fundamentalism and stories like “I kept asking her out until I wore her down and now we’ve been together 50 years!” were told as aspirational.

The realization you can appreciate and enjoy people without needing to possess them was a huge part of my escape from that world.
