"So have you got a new Jurassic Park movie for me?"

"Yes, sir, I do. It's called Jurassic Babies and it's about baby dinosaurs going on an adventure."

"Wow wow wow– Wow"

a speed camera is going to be installed on Jefferson St between Jackson and Monroe

I support speed cameras

I also support converting stroads LIKE THIS ONE into proper streets (having bus lanes, bike lanes, and possibly two-way traffic)

“But while New York is deciding to part ways with a tradition that has held back affordable housing, the recent fight over ADUs is an example of Chicago doubling down on it.”

map shows that tradition in action, there are so many different sets of rules for homeowners based on who your alder is

It’s official—we’re FIRST on the ballot for State Senate in the 6th District!

For the first time since 1972, our neighbors have a choice for what kind of Democrat we send to Springfield. With no Republican running, the March 17 Democratic Primary is the election.

While I was playing around videoing airplanes flying under the aurora last night, I had my other camera taking stills. Here's 1661 stills connected covering 55 actual minutes. The bright, fast moving streaks are the airplanes. I sped this up faster than normal because we all have swiping to do.

TIL that Naperville got rid of permit parking at the two Metra station parking lots and now it's FCFS and $3 per day (6 am to 6 pm)

I don’t think I’ve ever seen a commercial airplane skim the lakefront like this on its way to O’Hare airport

I’ve not had success at Queen’s Landing, end of Navy Pier, or Ohio St beach. But a lot of people are hanging out at those places nonetheless!

this particular building is great...

- 49 new homes where there was once a single-story restaurant with parking area
- 2 parking spaces (presumably for staff)
- 44' wide (so, single-loaded corridor?)
- permitted as of right (common in downtown, rare outside of downtown)
Chicago eliminates parking requirements across most of the city – and we updated our platform to give updated advice about it. buff.ly/pftFrST

Chicago is a safe haven for many looking to flee oppressive political climates of other regions. We need to keep it strong, and we need to keep it affordable. Listen to the rest of my time on Infill: A YIMBY Podcast below.

TLDR: Streetsblog Chicago is kicking off our 2026 fund drive, and we need to raise $50K. We hit some rough road this year, and it looked like we might not be able to keep the (bike) lights on in 2026 ...
