We at @cumbriawildlife.bsky.social are trying to reverse this loss and put back the wildlife & habitats to one mountain in the UK's Lake District: #Skiddaw Forest...entirely thanks to support by #Aviva, local volunteers and nearly 8000 donors who care deeply about this problem

Our impromptu artficial #hoverflylagoon seems to be coming on nicely. It's stuffed full of larvae, wriggling and squiggling, but perhaps could do with some sticks asap to help them crawl out to pupate.

Never looked for hairs on Northern Bedstraw before but they're present in well- organised double rows along the square (in section) stem edges. A bit stubbly and tiny though... are they actually hairs or just a bit of roughness? Dunno

Luxuriant, very species-rich tall-herb plant communities on the banks of the #RiverSouthTyne #Cumbria literally 'buzzing' today.

Lots of clegs; feels like litres of blood have been donated for the cause! Well, at least 3 or 4 bites.
