The ouroboros of money that is the AI industry.

Totally healthy for an industry to be like this.

Axios are such gullible marks for the AI industry.

They will uncritically print anything from an AI booster.

Leavitt just announced Trump will sign order designating 'Antifa' a domestic terror organisation.

So if this administration views anti-fascists as terrorists, surely that is a tacit acknowledgement that the administration is pro-fascism?

Since becoming academic misconduct chair for my school in July, I have been recording data across of couple of metrics (largely for my own interest).

As one can see from the chart below, AI is by far and away the most commonly reported issue when it comes to academic misconduct.

I'll just leave this here:

I have a real issue with Pew including Joe Rogan's podcast as a "news source" in this context. They do give a rationale for this list of 30, but I feel this list is somewhat skewed to the right. Where are the left-wing sources?

(Don't make me laugh by saying MSNBC!)

The Banjo Kazooie line had me laugh.

It is so painfully obvious that this is not the first time she has done this before.

Also demonstrative that the corrupt Adams is very, very comfortable with corruption of his underlings as well

I cannot wait for the AI bubble to burst and for all of these weapons-grade idiots to lose their jobs and be laughed out of society.

I get that anchors have to fill time in moments like this, but some of the speculative rhetorical questions Tapper (and guests) have been positing are just dumb.

If people watch a news channel for over an hour and learn nothing new, is is really a news channel?
August 15, 2025 at 9:22 PM
Kind of wild that people are making AI slop biographies about @taylorlorenz.bsky.social. There's certainly been enough written about her to make it easy to generate.

And I suppose it's somewhat of a complement as well, as they aren't doing it for anyone at CNN, WaPo, NYT etc

Who stands like this?

Whenever I've taught my branding module, there is always several students who bring up Claire's being a shitty brand for a whole host of reasons (crap stock, bad piercing experience, etc).

So this news did not come as a big surprise to me.

Was watching some old @redlettermedia.com videos on YouTube and this was thrown up as the 3rd recommendation.

A 30 second video of chipmunks uploaded 2 hours ago which was sitting at 10 views.

I've never watched any content that is even close to this so this algo suggestion is very, very odd.

Also realised he looks a lot like Frank Underwood.

(And is acting just as cynically as him as well. Murdering people simply to stay in political power)
August 10, 2025 at 2:13 PM
I think this Reddit post nails it.

OpenAI was burning through cash and needed a way to at least stem the bleed, even if just a little bit, due to investors likely to be breathing down their necks over the next few months.

The bubble is gonna burst at some point. It's just a question of when.

Can't wait for people to tear apart some of the claims Altman is making in this pitch.

My initial gripe is him claiming it's smarter than any expert with a PhD in any area.

As someone who knows a lot of PhDs that is not the bold claim Altman thinks it is.

This legit reads like an @theonion.com headline.
August 7, 2025 at 12:00 PM
The fact the BBC is even posing this as a question is pretty bad especially when opening section has:

"Prof Adam Finn, vaccine researcher at the University of Bristol, says "it's a bit of both" but ditching mRNA technology is "stupid" and potentially a "catastrophic error"."
August 6, 2025 at 7:08 PM
This was a wildly depressing read for so many reasons.

I really cannot wait for when this whole AI industry bubble pops. It's ruining an entire generations ability to critically think.

As someone who wrote my PhD looking at YouTube's contribution to the public sphere, I feel I am well positioned to say that the Jubilee YT does not help public discourse.

It actually harms it. They are sensationalist clickbait rage mongers. I also think they invite guests under false pretences.

This Javier Milei?

Currently watching the WH press briefing where Leavitt is call for the NYT and WaPo to be stripped of their Pulitzers for their reporting on Russiagate.

Meanwhile the Fox New YouTube chat is basically spamming "Release the Epstein files!"

I've been using the same opening word for Wordle for over 1000 games.

Today it finally came up.

This is such a great piece by Ed. Informative, highly engaging, depressing and just so clearly right.

Think I'm gonna set this as a reading for one of my modules.
