It wasn't even 19 months ago the news about the gov't and airlines was all about regulation and consumer protections. Instead of fascist incompetence and the destruction of an industry.

If we're gonna have a politics of sitcoms discussion we've gotta talk about the most accurate depiction of America in the 2nd & 3rd decades of the 21st century.

We don't pay nearly enough attention to media illiteracy on the left and how to causes a deeply cynical view of humanity that's inherently at odds with progressive ideals.

Wildly insane take here that also doesn't understand comedy.

It's a shame "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" isn't taught more often. Maybe then folks would understand the injustices Twain was railing against came back ’round.

Both folks keeping their loyalty to imagery rather than ideals and corporations exploiting workers & lesser shareholders

I figured the Newport Cliff Walk would be cool thanks to reading @alyssamaxwell.bsky.social. But I did not expect it to involve crossing bolders and feel so connected to the natural qualities of the island. Unbelievable that it survived the Robber Barons.

Amidst all the protest signs here is a great one on the corner of 16th & Chestnut in Philly. Fuck Wonder, fuck venture capital, fuck the hollowing out of our communities.

Further evidence Americans do not know what "Gilded Age" means. It was decidedly not the "Golden Era," that's like the whole point of Duncan & Twain naming it the Gilded Age.

The French may not be as known for their fried foods in America, but a French Country Style frying pan is way better than the American version. Almost like a saucer. This one is from DeBuyer and it's awesome.

Instagram fed me this ad today. Not only am I the completely wrong person for it, but I'm pretty sure Biden's presidency ended six months ago. And the government waste is on ethnic cleansing and billionaire handouts.

Oh well, waste your money assholes.

Every time I learn something about the Abundance flimflammers the more it all makes sense. Thanks to @edzitron.com for making me realize the birthday party guy was one of them. The Business Idiot article is a great angry read

Remember when INS (ICE's precursor) was the poster agency for violent gov't operations after they used hundreds of agents to take Elian González. The far right used Diaz's Pulitzer winning image for years. The remarkable thing now is the CBP/INS agent was willing to show his face

It took two years, but I finally found a decent Cubano in PA. Rosa Blanca in Allentown had all the components and flavors. A unique twist with the thicker pork.

Two Costco rotisserie chicken carcasses (thank you chickens) means it's time to make some stock/broth. Hopefully I remember the bowl at the end.

SHRM put out an article on raise expectations. And it looks like Millennials and Zoomers expect raises to match profits (very fair) while Boomers and Gen X expect it to match inflation. I wonder how much this is impacted by Gen X and Boomers already being at senior salaries.

Outside of its context that paragraph loses its meaning. The preceding graf is all about fetishizing the closet. The graf you posted the second half to is just discussing why depictions of the closet are prevelant now.

I'll never regret moving to PA so long as Ambler Theater shows such gems as "Faster Pussycat Kill, Kill!" And "My Favorite Wife"
