These are the results for the low scoring children. Month of birth ought not to be a predictor of numeracy or lack of it.

Umsurprisingly the data for multiplication tables testing displayed a similar pattern. These are the results of the high scoring children 21-25.

This third chart counts children for whom the phonics test has been disapplied, presumably because they're destined for failure.

It's systemic discrimation because the system, which is owned by the Department for Education, selects children by month-of-birth for failure in the realm of literacy.

The first chart counts children by month of birth who meet the expected standard.

This second chart counts the children who are still working towards meeting the expected standard.

I've been researching relative age effects (RAEs) for 25 years & I've never come across a dataset which so perfectly illustrates the month-of-birth systemic discrimination which adversely affects the life trajectories of children as the Department for Education's phonics screening dataset.

As the sun goes down on the 5th anniversary of Brexit Day this is how far we haven't progressed.

HMG debt is being shunned, the FTSE has gained only 13% in value & sterling has lost 5 cents against the dollar.

Brexit is a tragedy & it's time for Downing Street to acknowledge it.

Starmer-Reeves in outlier territory.

Starmer & Reeves have to get real and come to terms with the need to join the European Union.

The Starmer Reeves vital signs have gone backwards since 4 July. Nothing's going right. They're the authors of their own decline with a spiteful budget, it'll take courage to dig themselves out of the hole they're in.

The pedagogical principle is unarguable.

Rachel Reeves acknowledges the Brexit Albatross hanging around the economy's neck.

Cut it loose, I say.

Starmer Reeves really went backwards today. Fingers crossed that inflation doesn't kick in on account of their Budget policies.

How Truss imagines it.

The DJT slump is a thing of beauty.

Starmer-Reeves seems to be short of puff in the Doldrums. Scepticism about positive commentary might be prudent. Even with a fair wind getting close to pre-Brexit markers seems ambitious & Reeves desperately needs to borrow but dare not for the risk of capsizing.

Sunak-Hunt peaked but has regressed over the last 2 months. No noticeable detrimental Budget effect so far.

In 2024/25 Keir Starmer is likely to inherit a stable underlying economic situation from Rishi Sunak & Conservatives.

Getting back to the comparatively prosperous economic environment of pre-Brexit Britain will take some hard work and original thinking from UKLabour.

The UK’s vital signs perked up before BoE’s rate decision yesterday & are holding up today. IMHO, there was headroom for a drop in interest rates as a desperately needed Christmas present to a beleaguered British population who’ve been subject to seller’s inflation & widespread price gouging.

Rishi's swimming against the tide.

A 3-D trajectory of the UK economy from the Brexit Referendum to now.

UK borrowing costs soaring, Sterling slumping, pension assets stagnant.

We're in a very sorry state.
October 6, 2023 at 9:43 AM
CPI marginally down. Food still way into double digits at 13.6%. A quandary for BoE but base likely to rise again tomorrow.

Just spent a few days on the water & walking in Friesland. What a lovely part of the world & some interesting residential developments too.
