Another damaging visual showing Trump's narcissism and decline.

We receive help from the people of other nations when our people are hurt.

Cutting FEMA and NOAA/NWS is not the way. Further improve the Emergency Alert Service. Reduce tax cuts if necessary to do so.

(One of my projects in the 90's increased rural coverage.)

"Strange days have tracked us down." the Doors

Recent events are no longer red flags but are actual authoritarian acts--Padilla, McIver, domestically deployed Marines, Ft. Bragg political rally, parade with tanks.

Keep the faith. America will prevail.

Rule 2. Defend institutions. It is institutions that help us to preserve decency. They need our help as well. Do not speak of "our institutions" unless you make them yours by acting on their behalf. Institutions do not protect themselves. So choose an institution you care about and take its side.

A better view for America.

Sunset near Moscow, Idaho, USA. Not many areas more beautiful (or fertile) than the Palouse in N Idaho and E Washington.

Most often, the Palouse is a patchwork of gold, greens, tans, and dark brown on wonderfully rolling hills.

Believe photographer is Larry Gerbrandt.

Just saw this posted by my old boss at the Gore Reinventing Government task force.

Dave and I encouraging our FBI friends yesterday at lunchtime.
Spoke with one agent who had just retired and two saying farewell to someone taking the "fork letter" option.
People still appreciative of public support.
Again, there is a good chance there is a field office near you.

This period offers so many opportunities to fight for truth, decency, democracy, humanity and even for simple reality.

In many cases people and institutions don't do the right thing because they lack the. foundational virtue--courage.

Trump continues to struggle and fail in his attempt to appear powerful and threatening.

If the people continue to demand republican legislators stand up for Congress's prerogatives, Trump (and certainly Musk) may be gone sooner than we think.

Continued appreciation from "under the gun" FBI folks.
Concern about the Kash Patel vote tomorrow night.
We were joined by a retired SSA for a good half hour of walking and talking.

A new friend (retired DOJ atty with 42 years) and I offered support today at FBI HQ and the Washington Field Office.
Again, employees appreciative of public support.

This happening across agencies. Cruel, mindless and destructive.
February 15, 2025 at 12:59 AM
Most FBI employees work in its 55 field offices. I think it would mean the world for those folks to see people supporting them. One person said they wept (privately) to see the support.

Showed support for the FBI at lunch time today. I spoke with some folks to learn how we could best help.
Apparently they really appreciate the support even if it is just one person. They would be happy to see more.
I plan to return but not tomorrow.

He was in the Rose Garden when President Kennedy addressed newly appointed mission directors and deputy directors.
My tape of the speech includes my Dad’s voice replying to a question from JFK.
He knew USAID has flaws but that it is a vital expression of America’s generosity and service to humanity.
February 9, 2025 at 3:07 AM
Trump does not have the authority to abolish USAID. He can prevent it from operating by interfering with its employees, contractors and grantees—at least for a while. Only Congress can actually eliminate the organization and its programs. And Congress won’t.

I think we'll be in the streets. This lady is not alone. I think we'll be joined by many Trump voters as well.

I have been showing up at lunch time at the employees entrance of the Hoover Building (west side) to show support for FBI public servants.

I plan to do so again on Friday, 2/7, if anyone would like to join in showing support too. Not a protest. (Except implicitly.)

Back again. With my new appreciation of Elon’s work.
February 5, 2025 at 5:57 PM
Elon Musk did his engineering--mostly in public—and managed to get access to many of the government’s most important and secured systems where he not only stole data but compromised the system code.
And it is on-going today!
February 5, 2025 at 2:22 PM
I spent about an hour and a half with this sign at the employee entrance of the Hoover Bldg. I got lots of smiles, thank you’s, and thumbs up. I had a couple discussions with folks. The current FBI leaders are refusing to throw its employees under the bus.
Kash would remove them and any barriers.
