damn ! i still suck at it but i get the appeal

i think what messed me up most is just how looooooong each stage is with some pretty agile and mean as fuck bosses. they really expect you to just be built differently to survive. i think simon's walk speed being slower than most games too doesn't help the slower-paced feeling

i guess it makes things easier to keep track of when everything ever past stage 2 deals the exact same damage. from a tiny bat enemy to the literal boss of the stage. very funny but also kind of painful. i'm terrified to know if loop 2 makes the damage even higher

which is why i play way too much stuff from the 80s to mid 90s from arcades and 4th gen consoles and jp home computers cause they just Do Not suffer from these problems anywhere near as much. most 16bit rpgs are just easy to get into

out. i don't want to have every rpg i try be like 10 out of 30 i spent 2 hours on each until i could get to the actual game then find out i hate it. this even happens in non-rpgs too sometimes with ps1 era stuff and it's like aughh. modern game trends really do start as soon as 5th gen

i've been debating doing this for a while. just fucking mashing through text and like an hour+ worth of tutorializing and exposition it gets on my nerves sooo much. it makes me upset cause i also feel guilty like i'm not giving games a chance but at the same time i got a ton of other things to try

this is genuinely a problem i have with a ton of ps1 rpgs in general. i'm so glad someone else feels the same way i did about alundra. i hate how so many of the games in this genre try to do sooo much story setup and it's like can i please find out if i care about the game itself first

that’s insane. kinda makes me paranoid of how many other bad dumps of games there are out there that people are just led into believing are the real thing
