Tonight, I was double shaking 2 espresso martinis at work, in a long sleeve black shirt. And a woman sitting at the bar told me I have “Michelle Obama arms”.

Ma’am, what the fuck?

I think she meant it as a compliment??? I was just kinda mortified and confused.

I normally drink light roast coffee but every since I started taking a multivitamin with B12, it’s been too much. So I switched to the medium roast from the same company and it tastes like my grandpas “dishwater” coffee where he’d take Folgers and make a whole pot off a single tablespoon of grounds.

Today, we’re making a seitan “turkey” from scratch, a vegan key lime pie from scratch, and then potatoes, carrots, celery, and I may also make some hummus. And we are putting up our Christmas tree.

Today will be busy but also really fun.

We’d been looking at this blender/food processor for like a year and a half and tracking the prices and watching the refurbished market. So we finally got it.

I’ve already made falafels, vegan mayo, and homemade pasta sauce. I’m obsessed with this thing.

My dumb ass just walked out of Home Depot with the hand scanner from the self checkout. Had to make the walk of shame to bring it back in. 🤦‍♂️

It's baffling that we allow private companies to use public infrastructure as their R&D lab, externalizing the risk onto the public, while they fine tune their unproven software.

That whole "cars are freedom" bullshit is really coming apart at the seams, huh?
Border Patrol is monitoring US drivers and detaining those with 'suspicious' travel patterns
The U.S. Border Patrol is monitoring millions of American drivers nationwide in a secretive program to identify and detain people whose travel patterns it deems suspicious.

Chris made a vegan cream of mushroom soup for my MIL’s potatoes today and it turned out soooooo good. She likes it better than the real thing.

I made a special sweet potato, lentil, cranberry, carrot, black bean, and wild rice dish inspired by a Shepards Pie. He made a butternut squash soup.

I also love that for Thanksgiving this year, each couple has to make a dish using a specific ingredient, and then whoever makes the favorite gets a plush toy and gets to decide what the next food item we’ll all use next time. There’s gonna be a lot of unique sweet potato dishes this year lol.

This year, for family Christmas, we are doing a Secret Santa so we don’t stretch budgets buying cheap crap, and the rule is we have to make it ourself or buy handmade items from Christmas markets or something, which I love. So I’m supporting my friend that does beadwork. 🙂

I just found out the new vegan cafe a couple blocks away from me is opening in a couple weeks and I literally can’t wait. 😁😁😁

On my way home tonight, a Jeep turned up onto the bike trail and tried driving down it. I stopped and shook my light at them like I was shaking my head and yelled “No! Go!” And they backed into a concrete box, turned around, and peeled off on the wrong side of the street. 🥲

I’ve had the hiccups really bad for like 3 hours now and I’m over it. This shit actually hurts.

Yes, I got it to stop temporarily with the water trick. It stopped working after they came back and they got worse and legitimately hurt.

Really hoping that winter deters some ICE activities here in the northern latitudes. It seems unlikely that Chicago will be very hospitable for a bunch of “alpha” vigilantes in Spirit Halloween police uniforms in January.

Anyway a great way to radicalize people is for them to realize that you just abandoned their chance at being able to access and afford health care because you didn’t like waiting in line at the airport.

How about we shut down the government for this very popular and specific goal and then, hear me out, we hold out for like a month and a half and then, ok this part is important, after a watershed election where we ran the table, ONLY THEN, fold and don't get the one thing we said we wanted.

Chris found a vegan “egg drop soup” recipe and holy hell I couldn’t believe it. It was so close. And then we both started following a random German vegan chef lol.

Really hoping my job’s health insurance for next year will allow me to add my husband without it costing more than unsubsidized Marketplace plans, because otherwise he will not have health insurance next year. 🙁 To add him this year would have cost *$1,600/mo*.

I hate this system.

Any Democrat that votes yes without ACA subsidies being extended should be primaried. All of them. If they don’t get that, this whole shutdown will have been for nothing.

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.

The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.

People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.

And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

I had people tell me I was exaggerating when I said our president is evil. But he’s spending his time and attention on taking food away from poor Americans, so I stand by it.

Part of why I enjoy working at a place that has weddings all the time: I get to take home fresh flowers pretty often. 🙂

Our dogs normally rip the squeakers out of toys within about 10 minutes, especially our older one. But he took a real liking to one and kept it intact for a few days before his brother ripped it out.

So I’m gonna try my hand at sewing it back up so my older dog can have his friend back. 🙂
