"Go fast and break things" is still driven by logic, data, and expertise.

There is zero of that in any move by Elon and DOGE. This is just shooting everything in sight because the shareholders said so.

"The private sector" can't do shit, they're all using NOAA's satellites, radars, and obs networks.

And that's the whole point, to get us to pay twice: get government to subsidize the difficult/expensive part, block it from public use, then paywall the output.

Corporations: the real parasite class.

He doesn't want technically proficient people working inside the government to improve things because he can shift all that work to his contractor buddies at 10x the cost to the taxpayer.

While I have the mic, I'm gonna shout out Colin Murphy, Greg Walker, and Nate Borrebach, who were all leading that effort from the 18F side. Three of the sharpest guys I've ever worked with in 30 years of this trade.

I can't even figure out what they counted there.

The whole KC metro (KS and MO) is around 2.2m

The actual city is just over 500k

I can't find any rational combination of things that would get you to 1.6m.
